GESP, in partnership with a local company, has been awarded a project in Kenya, funded by World Bank, for the Design and Development of the Integrated Coastal Biodiversity Information Management System (ICBIMS) for KMFRI - Kenya Marine And Fisheries Research Institute.

ICBMS system is structured as a Geoportal Content Management System (GeoCMS) with related Web GIS applications and Geospatial database, for sharing, displaying and managing geospatial information and relevant contents (images, documents, etc.) through dashboards, interactive maps and GIS tools. Published data represent natural resources and marine biodiversity of Kenya Coastal Region, scattered among institutions involved in KCDP (Kenyan Coastal Development Program). ICBIMS Geoportal is based on GIS open source technologies such as: Geonode for the portal application, Geoserver for the publishing of Web GIS services, PostGIS for the management of spatial database and QGIS as desktop application for map creation and data management. It includes activities of data collection, capacity building and maintenance. Funded by World Bank.
