Established in 1997, Wind was an Italian TLC operator (now purchased by a huge Egyptian TLC provider) offering integrated fixed, internet and mobile telecommunications solutions.

Wind covers more than 94% of the Italian population with its mobile network, offers fixed telephony and internet services over the entire national territory and has a more than 18,000 kilometres long optic fibre backbone.

GESP was committed - by Intergraph - to develop the geographical software system to allow the design and the management of Wind’s fixed telecommunication network. The system (at the moment in use) has a set of integrated software components to design the network and to guarantee a correct import / export data processing between the company and the data field suppliers.

A deep analysis and an advanced software development was produced to carry out the interface between network design system and the tools constructed for operate “ordinary” network management. At the moment, GIS system is used by Wind to design new network elements and to manage TLC graph.
