Client: Enel Distribuzione S.p.A.
The project analyses the state of the art of the in-field works performed by Enel on the national territory, designing a WFM system able to support the crews during the activities of ordinary maintenance, emergency, failure repairs and interventions following to customers’ signals. The design involves:
- work and data flow analysis: integration with the main systems employed by Enel in its own maintenance cycle;
- crews’ equipment: typically: GPS, able to geo-reference the crew’s van, PDA or Tablet or other mobile peripheral and relevant software, telecommunication equipment and interfaces to exchange information with the Operating Centre;
- communication infrastructure: based on GSM / GPRS / UMTS protocols between van and Operating Center: a further communication layer is used to exchange data between van and the worker’s peripheral (often, for repairs in campaign, the van cannot be placed close to the meter, the lamppost or - generally speaking - the electric facility to be repaired). Different protocol have been evaluated for this kind of communication (Wi-Fi, Wi-Max, Bluetooth, etc.).
Enel has installed, in almost all the Country, a very advanced metering system based on electronic, remote controlled, meters. One of the most important issues dealt by the project involves the integration among WFM and such a system and the sharing of functions among the other IT-systems employeed by Enel as:
- GESI (signals, interruptions and failure management system);
- SIGRAF (GIS);
- SIGMA (schedule medium voltage maintenance and planned inspections);
- SAP (billing and CRM);
- Tele-gestione (remote management / remote meter reading);
- Tele-controllo (remote control for high and medium voltage network).
