Client: Amiacque S.p.A. (CAP Group)
CAP Group is a consortium of 190+ Municipalities working in all the activities involving the management of the water cycle. Amiacque (the operating company of CAP Group) has the mission of assuring the supply of the water and all the services connected with the water’s use, sharing and picking up and the wastes’ collecting and purifying. Coupled with its own business, Amiacque develops a strong focus on the environmental themes and the safeguard of water resources.
The system adopted by Amiacque is able to share geo-spatial, technical and management information to over 190 Municipalities of the hinterland of the city of Milan. The set of geo-spatial applications is built in the enterprise IT environment involving employees’ data, billing, plans’ management, etc.
Geo-portal supports the technicians in the maintenance ordinary work and sales force during the order acquisition, geo-referencing meters and identifying contractual features associated to the networks. A complex geo-coding procedure (based on Tele-Atlas database) allows to the user to link meters, street numbers and bills.
The basis of the system is represented by the Municipal cartographies (raster, vector and aerial photos), integrated with “business” data (networks), maintenance data (RIM DB) and geo-coding data (Tele Atlas DB).
An Oracle Spatial solution stores and oversees all the spatial data, including land base information (administrative and cadastral) and pipelines cartography, by means of vector and raster data.
Software solutions are carried out using “geo-web services” technology, compliant with Open GeoSpatial Consortium (ex OGC, Open GIS Consortium).
The last project’s phase involved an integration between an OGC-WMS service (sharing network and business data) and Google Maps data to view Amiacque’s networks overlapped to Google base.
A new phase (currently in planning) will implement GIS Mobile solutions to manage maintenance life cycle performed by in-field crews.
